How to Apply
Step 1: Confirm your eligibility. You must hold a bachelor's degree, be an educator who has not yet earned a master's degree in an education-related field, and must not have already started the M.Ed. at UoPeople. Step 2: Visit the IB's official scholarship page to access the application. The 2026 application opened on 4 May 2026 and closes on 24 May 2026. Step 3: Open the application form on Submittable. The interview questions, video pitch instructions and research paper instructions are all contained within the application form and become visible once the application is open. Step 4: Prepare your 3-minute video pitch. Read the instructions carefully within the application before recording. The video is a key part of your application and the guidelines are specific. Step 5: Complete the required research paper according to the instructions provided within the application form. Step 6: Update your CV or resume in English, making sure it accurately reflects your current role, your teaching experience and your professional development. Step 7: Identify a professional recommender, ideally a current or previous supervisor, and contact them early. Ask them to submit the letter directly to the application portal before the 24 May 2026 deadline. Letters submitted after the deadline will not be considered. Application Deadline
The application closes on 24 May 2026. The deadline is based on your local time as displayed on Submittable on the closing day. Applications submitted after this time will NOT be accepted. Late recommendation letters will also not be accepted, regardless of when the main application was submitted.Selection Criteria

This does not mean you need to currently work in an IB school, but your application should reflect these values. Video pitch: This is a key element of the selection process. It gives the committee insight into your personality, communication ability and motivation for pursuing the degree. Letter of recommendation: A professional reference from a supervisor who can speak to your work as an educator adds credibility to your application. - Do not delay. The application window is only 20 days long, from 4 May to 24 May 2026. Open the form as soon as it is available and understand all requirements before you begin preparing materials.
- Contact your recommender immediately. They must submit their letter directly to the portal by 24 May 2026. Waiting until the last week to ask them is a risk you should not take.
- Read the video pitch and research paper instructions inside the application form before you start preparing either. The instructions are specific and you should not guess at what is required.
- Be concrete in your video about your teaching context, the challenges your students face and why this degree matters for your community. Generic motivation statements are less compelling than specific, grounded ones.
- Remember that the M.Ed. does not award a teaching certification. If your goal is certification, this programme may not be the right fit. If your goal is deepening your expertise as an educator, it is a strong pathway.
- The programme is fully online and self-paced enough that it can take between less than one year and two to three years to complete, depending on your circumstances. Factor this flexibility into your decision to apply.
